Nurturing the Spirit Succeeding Together Learning for Life

The history curriculum aims to ensure that pupils know and understand the history of our island as a coherent and chronological narrative, from the earliest times to 1066. Studies will include change in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain, British settlement by the Anglo-Saxons and Scots and the Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggle for the Kingdom of England to the time of Edward the Confessor.

We also aim to teach significant aspects of the wider world including the nature of ancient civilisations and the characteristic features of past non-European societies as well as helping pupils to understand historical concepts, methods of historical enquiry and gain an historical perspective.
