Physical Development

Reception pupils have P.E sessions weekly, take part in weekly Forest School sessions, where gross and fine motor skills techniques are needed.

There are a variety of different activities that are planned for during the week to develop these skills including:

  • Handwriting sessions
  • Write Dance
  • Scissor skills
  • Threading
  • Outdoor climbing activities
  • Bats and balls
  • Building and balancing materials
Pupils take part in a wide range of activities in line with the National Curriculum but also have chances to take part in competitive matches with our neighbouring schools and a variety of festivals organised by local high schools. We hold an annual Sports Days which is made up of cooperative team activities in the morning and competitive races in the afternoon. After school sports clubs are offered over the course of the year by our own staff and outside providers and include football, rugby, cricket, gymnastics badminton and dance.
